Trōiānī procellā ad oppidum Carthāginem portātī sunt. Procellam excītāverat dea Iūno rēgīna caelī; nam Iūnō Aenēae Trōiānīsque semper inīmica, Dīdōnī Poenīsque semper amīca erat. At que nunc ad deam vernerem Aenēae mātrem advolat. Fātīs quidem vetor, at temptābō.”
英語:
The Trojans are carried to a Carthage town by a storm. Goddess Juno, queen of heavens, had stirred the storm; for Juno was always hostile to Aeneas and the Trojans, she was always friendly to Dīdō and the Phoenicians. And now she flies to goddess Venus, mother of Aeneas. She pretends to not have enmity and pretend to be friendly: “My Dido will love your Aeneas and she will guard him in the Phoenician kingdom. Then the Trojans will always live here; I will gave my Carthage town to your Trojans.” However, in her prophetic mind, she was thinking, “if Aeneas and the Trojans will have build a town in Italy, soon the Romans will prepare a Punic War against Carthage. If however they will not sail to Italy but will live here, they will give good help to Dido, against the Africans, hostile to the Phoenicians. Indeed I am forbidden by the prophecies, but I will try.” Thus she was thinking because Dido and the Phoenicians were dear to Juno.
The plan of Juno is pleasing to Venus but thus Aeneas her dear son will be safe in the meantime. Therefore Cythera gives help to Juno. Venus seizes Ascanius and flew up to heaven with her grandson; meanwhile she places her son Amor, brother of Aeneas, in the place of Ascanius. Wretched Dido loved little Ascanius, she put Amor, the fake Ascanius in her lap. As love flew from her lap into her heart, where love stirred up flames, the wretched queen loved Aeneas. Aeneas loved Dido, because she was good and beautiful, the Trojan man loved her.
The Trojans helped the Phoenicians, and Phoenicians helped Trojans; the Trojans were living in Phoenician towns, and they prepared war against the fierce Africans.
